WE'RE MOVING!

Hi, there!

My dear readers... it feels very strange to be addressing you from here for one last time... So here are the news: Faery is moving out!

The blog will from now on be part of my own personal website, which you can see here: laurahuetopuig.com, and that's where we'll be working, and posting, and creating new and interesting things from!

Faery and I just want to THANK YOU from the bottom of our liquid hearts for staying with us for so long, and hope that you'll keep on doing so at our bright and cozy new home.

If you feel like sailing with us on this new adventure, you can follow us with bloglovin' by clicking here.

If you'd rather revel in the nostalgia of old happier days when faery tales were believed in, you can stick around. This site is not going anywhere. ;)

Anyway, I promised myself I'd keep it brief. Farewell, my friends!

Waterfowl appendix

Hi there!

I didn't think of showing you this for my last post, but you might find it interesting:

This is actually the flat drawing of the Waterfowl dress, Front and Back views. As designers, we can sketch out first ideas in any form we want, but in order for those to be communicated to a team of patternmakers, cutters, dressmakers and even salespeople, these have to then be transformed into technical plates, at the base of which are these computerized drawings made with Adobe Illustrator.

Purists will be right to say that this is not really a technical drawing because it's colorized, but it looks nicer that way, and I thought it would be better for you to see.

I hope you enjoy these last few hours of weekend, and Happy April Fool's Day! ;)

Waterfowl

Hey, guys!

I've realized Faery just hit 10 000 hits! Wow! Thank you so much everyone for stopping by and reading! ;)

What I wanted to share with you today is a school project I've invested myself quite a lot in lately, and that is finally finished!

My inspiration: a duck. The Waterfowl duck. Image via Wikipedia

The project involved designing a dress that we would have to do the patterns for afterwards, putting into practice all of the patternmaking techniques we'd been learning for the past 2 years and testing our knowledge and understanding of garment construction. Then, we'd have to sew the garment and present it in a technical dossier.

Yes, you heard well, a technical dossier. But, me being me, I could not help myself and did a quick photoshoot with the dress... It just doesn't look the same on a dummy!

See first the technical photos, with an emphasis on the details:

I used this beautiful passementerie at the neckline, and a black ostrich feather along the shoulder seams

A full cape peplum

Cut-outs at the waist

... And here we go with the little photoshoot we threw together:

My lovely model is one of my dearest friends Helga, whom I thank soo much for bearing with me and my duck-inspired dress... ;)

Tell me what you think, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Have a great weekend...

Hide & Seek - Montseny

These images have been strolling around my computer for a few weeks (months, actually), I shot them right before Christmas.

Imagine yourselves peeking through wrought iron fences into the secluded gardens of old mansions, playing hide-and-seek with the sun...

Have a lovely and inspired weekend! ;)
